Information will be added as we get more questions.
Q: When do Panel Applications Open? A: We are excited to get your panel applications now! While applying does not guarantee a spot on the final schedule, we make every effort to consider all submissions and aim to include as much vibrant content as we can.
Q: When do Panel Applications Close? A: November 5th, 2024.
Q: What is the Panel”™s Waitlist? A: If you’re not accepted or disqualified, you will be placed on the “Panel”™s Waitlist” unless you choose otherwise. The waitlist is thoughtfully organized by content, audience, rating, and panel type. Should cancellations occur more than two weeks before the convention, we eagerly look to fill those openings with exciting panels of similar content. Please reach out to us as we near the event, as there will always be cancellations and movement within the schedule.
Q: What is the Waitlist process? A: Two weeks before the convention, the top 10 (general audience ) waitlist candidates will be notified of their standing, ensuring they are ready for any last-minute opportunities.
Q: Do the top 10 Waitlisted Panelists get a badge? A: Absolutely. Panelists on this waitlist will get a badge for their ongoing participation and support for Ohayocon. As we fill these spots, we will inform the remaining candidates on the list of openings and shift the list upward. We will then work to secure the new waitlist panelists’ badges or refund their existing registration. Suppose your panel does not make it into the final schedule (for whatever reason) while you’re on the waitlist. In that case, we would like to encourage you to connect with the panel programming team to explore any cancellations of panels during the weekend and be prepared to show your panel should the opportunity arise or to contribute your support to main-stage events.
Q: How old must you be to be a general audience panelist? A: You must be 18 years of age to host a general all-ages panel at Ohayocon. We occasionally offer panels and events designed for a younger audience. To join as a youth panelist, you must follow the general audience standards and application process while having an adult there during the event. Your adult must have their own badge.
Q. Do panelists get compensation besides the free badge? A. Panelists for Ohayocon 2025 will get a panelist badge at the event in exchange for their services. Panel groups qualify for up to 4 free badges. Each panel you finish beyond the 1st mandatory panel gives you a prize token to the Ohayocon Prize Closet, or you can choose a $25 gift card per group, and you will have their panels listed in our online event guide.
Q. Say I am a “waitlisted panelist,” and my panel isn’t on the schedule, but I have already checked in with panel programming, and they have two opportunities for me to help out. Seating an event and helping put up maps. Will I get anything besides the warm feeling of knowing I helped make a difference? A. Yes! You will get one prize token for every event you step up and help with as part of the panelist’s team. If you were to show your panels, you choose between a $25 gift card or a prize token.
Q. When will I know how many badges our group has qualified for? A. At the time of acceptance, the Panel”™s staff will convey the number of badges you qualify for.
Q. How many panels do I need to do for a free badge? A. You must be on the schedule for at least one panel or be a member of the waitlisted panelists.
